Intraoral Hypothermia Device for Preserving Taste During Radiation

Head and Neck Cancer Β· Taste Dysfunction Β· Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy to the head and neck region is known to cause taste dysfunction. Preliminary studies showed that cooling normal structures may lower damage caused by radiation. The purpose of this research study is to see if it is feasible to use an intraoral cooling device during radiation treatments to preserve or lower the decline of taste function.

How Simplified Language Affects Comprehension and Learning in Young Autistic Children

Autism Spectrum Disorder

The long-term study goal is to experimentally evaluate the components (and likely active ingredients) of early language interventions for young children with ASD. The overall objective is to determine how single-word and telegraphic simplification affects real-time language processing and word learning in young children with ASD (relative to full, grammatical utterances). The proposed project will investigate three specific aims: 1) Determine how single-word and telegraphic simplification affects language processing. 2) Determine how single-word and telegraphic simplification affects word learning. 3) Evaluate child characteristics that may moderate the effects of linguistic simplification on language processing and word learning. Aim 1 will test the hypothesis that children with ASD will process full, grammatical utterances faster and more accurately than single-word or telegraphic utterances. Aim 2 will test the hypothesis that full, grammatical utterances will support word learning better than telegraphic or single-word utterances. Aim 3 will test the hypothesis that language and cognitive skills significantly moderate the effects of linguistic simplification on language processing and word learning in young children with ASD.

A First-in-Human Study to Evaluate Implantable Iontophoresis Chemotherapy Delivery Device With Gemcitabine Once Weekly or Twice Weekly in Participants With Pancreatic Cancer

This study is being done to find out if delivering gemcitabine using the ACT-IOP-003 device directly to the area where the tumor is in the pancreas is safe and tolerable. The main questions the study aims to answer are: * Is ACT-IOP-003 safe and tolerable when given to patients with nonmetastatic, locally advanced, nonresectable pancreatic cancer. * How much study drug (gemcitabine) is found in the blood before and after treatment. * If the tumor responds to treatment. * If the gemcitabine side effects are less than seen when delivered intravenously (IV). Study participants will: * Have the study device surgically placed on the pancreas at the beginning of the study. * Complete 8 weeks of treatment with a 4 week screening period and 12 weeks of follow-up for a total of 24 weeks of participation in the study. * Give blood, urine, and stool samples to monitor safety and determine how much of the study drug (gemcitabine) is in the blood. * Have imaging (CT) done at least three times during the study.

Targeting Insomnia to Improve Outcomes in Adults With Problematic Cannabis Use

This study will compare the efficacy of telemedicine-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia tailored for people using cannabis for sleep (CBTi-CB-TM) to telemedicine-delivered sleep hygiene education (SHE-TM) on sleep, cannabis use, and daytime functioning. We will also evaluate the effects of CBTi-CB-TM on fundamental sleep regulatory system - homeostatic sleep drive - and its association with clinical outcomes.

Non-inferiority Study of Frexalimab Subcutaneous Administration Compared to Intravenous Administration in Adult Participants With Multiple Sclerosis

This is a randomized, open-label, parallel, Phase 3 study with 2-arms for treatment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate SC administration of frexalimab every 4 weeks (q4w) compared to IV administration of frexalimab q4w in male and female participants with RMS and nrSPMS (aged 18 to 60 years at the time of enrollment). People diagnosed with MS are eligible for enrollment as long as they meet all the inclusion criteria and none of the exclusion criteria. Study details include: The study intervention duration will be 48 weeks (12 months) for Parts A and B combined. Optional Part C will last until the initiation of a long term safety study for Frexalimab.The follow up duration after the end of study intervention (in case of discontinuation) will be 6 months. The number of scheduled visits (Parts A and B) will be 17 for participants receiving frexalimab SC or IV, with an on-site visit frequency of every month between Week 4 and Week 24 in Part A, then every 1 to 3 months in Part B, then every 6 months in Part C. Participants discontinuing treatment before the End of Study will have an additional 3 follow-up visits.

Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Rina-S in Participants With Advanced Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancers

Gastrointestinal Cancers

This Phase 2 study will be conducted in different countries around the world with up to about 160 participants. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well Rina-S works against GI cancers. The medication in this study is Rina-S monotherapy (by itself; no other cancer treatments). All participants will receive active drug; no one will be given placebo. Participation in the study will require visits to the study site(s). During site visits, there will be various tests (such as blood draws) and procedures (such as recording of heart activity, imaging/X-rays) to monitor whether the study treatment is safe and effective. The duration of the study will be different for every participant, but an average study duration of 22 months is expected for participants. This will include a treatment period (expected to last an average of 12 months), plus data collection periods before and after treatment. Participants will be asked to attend 1 to 5 visits at the study clinic for each cycle (duration of an individual cycle is 21 days). If a participant's cancer stays the same or gets better, and there are not any serious problems, participants can keep getting study treatment for as long as the study is open.

EKO SENSORA: Detecting Clinically Significant Murmurs

The Eko Artificial Intelligence (AI) has primarily been evaluated in the primary care setting. The digital stethoscope records a phonocardiogram of heart sounds of the patient and uses machine learning artificial intelligence to identify if there are abnormalities present (Eko Health, 2023). The Eko SENSORA will be tested in the emergency department. Chest pain, fatigue, shortness of breath and syncope are all symptoms that could indicate a cardiac dysfunction. The hypothesis is that this device will allow us increased ability to detect valvular heart disease that is clinically significant.

Study of Navtemadlin add-on to Ruxolitinib in JAK Inhibitor-NaΓ―ve Patients With Myelofibrosis Who Have a Suboptimal Response to Ruxolitinib

This clinical trial is evaluating whether addition of navtemadlin to ruxolitinib treatment will provide more clinical benefit than ruxolitinib alone for patients with Myelofibrosis who have a suboptimal response to ruxolitinib treatment alone. Subjects will start by receiving ruxolitinib alone in the run-in period. Those who demostrate a suboptimal response from ruxolitinib alone will then be randomized 2:1 to receive navtemadlin or navtemadlin placebo as add-on treatment to their ongoing ruxolitinib. Randomized means that subjects will be assigned to a group by chance, like a flip of a coin. The study is blinded, meaning the subjects, doctors, central endpoint assessors and sponsor will not know which add on treatment (navtemadlin or navtemadlin placebo) the subject is receiving.
