Colorectal Cancer Prevention Research Study: Eat Right, Screen Right

Colorectal Cancer Prevention

The Eat Right, Screen Right Extension program aims to help adult learners manage nutrition risks and screening options for colorectal cancer prevention. Participants navigate through 6 tailored lessons covering user-identified, evidence-based information relevant to reducing colorectal cancer risk. First, participants receive an overview of colorectal cancer screening guidelines (e.g., age, modalities), personalized nutrition risk factors (e.g., how their intake of red meat, processed meat, and alcohol aligns with nutrition guidelines for colorectal cancer prevention), and additional optional colorectal cancer prevention topics via a branched conversational pathway selected by the participant. Subsequently, participants also have the opportunity to access five additional modules, providing more in-depth information. Self-reported outcomes include changes in cancer information overload, dietary intentions, and cancer screening intentions. This is an extension of previously funded pilot study and aims to enhance reach by leveraging the UF/IFAS Extension infrastructure allowing participants to achieve the following goals: (1) demonstrate accurate understanding of the modifiable dietary behavior that decrease colorectal cancer risk, (2) demonstrate understanding of screening guidelines and several ways to screen for colorectal cancer (e.g., home stool tests, colonoscopy, others), (3) develop confidence to obtain colorectal cancer screening and stay up to date with screening based on guidelines, (4) apply behavior change strategies to support cancer prevention behaviors.

Participants will: * Take KQB168 daily, alone or in combination with pembrolizumab * Visit the clinic about 8 times in the first 8 weeks, and then once every 3 weeks after that

Dose Adjusted Chemoradiotherapy in HPV-Associated Oropharynx Cancer of the Elderly

Previous studies of this type of head and necl cancer have shown high rates of cancer control but result in many short and long term side effects when treated with high dose radiation and chemotherapy. Recently, investigators have noticed similar high rates of cancer control in small numbers of patients who receive less intensive treatments using lower doses of radiation, smaller radiation fields with chemotherapy. It is expected that the side effects of treatment with lower doses of radiation would be less. For this reason this study is looking at a different regimen of reducing the intensity of the treatment. The purpose of this study is to compare any good and bad effects of using lower dose smaller fields radiation therapy and chemotherapy with published outcomes. This study will allow the researchers to know whether these different approaches are better, the same, or worse than the usual approach. To be better, the study approach should result in the same survival rate of the usual approach (about 85 out of 100 patients alive and free of cancer at 2 years) but with less long-term side effects.

Testing Whether the Addition of Carboplatin Chemotherapy to Cabazitaxel Chemotherapy Will Improve Outcomes Compared to Cabazitaxel Alone in People With Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer That Has Spread Beyond the Prostate to Other Parts of the Body

Castration-Resistant Prostate Carcinoma ยท Stage IVB Prostate Cancer AJCC v8

This phase III trial compares the effect of adding carboplatin to the standard of care chemotherapy drug cabazitaxel versus cabazitaxel alone in treating prostate cancer that keeps growing even when the amount of testosterone in the body is reduced to very low levels (castrate-resistant) and that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic). Carboplatin is in a class of medications known as platinum-containing compounds. Carboplatin works by killing, stopping or slowing the growth of tumor cells. Chemotherapy drugs, such as cabazitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Prednisone is often given together with chemotherapy drugs. Prednisone is in a class of medications called corticosteroids. It is used to reduce inflammation and lower the body's immune response to help lessen the side effects of chemotherapy drugs and to help the chemotherapy work. Giving carboplatin with the standard of care chemotherapy drug cabazitaxel may be better at treating metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer.

Safety and Preliminary Efficacy of OBT076 in Recurrent/Metastatic CD205+ Solid Tumors

Solid Tumor

The purpose of this study is to evaluate OBT076, which is a drug that combines an antibody with an anti-cancer drug. This class of drugs are called Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADC). Antibodies are normally produced in the human body by the immune system to fight infections but can be designed to target cancer cells and deliver an anti-cancer drug. OBT076 is composed of an antibody that targets the CD205 protein on cancer cells and delivers an anti-cancer drug which can kill them. OBT076 is an "Investigational Drug", which means that it is still being studied and has not yet been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or any other regulatory authorities to be prescribed by doctors for the treatment of metastatic or recurrent solid tumors. The use of OBT076 in this study is investigational. This is a Phase I research study designed to look at several dose levels of the study drug to find the highest dose level that is safe and well-tolerated (does not cause unacceptable side effects), and to examine the effects of the study drug in a small group of research participants. The study will also look at the effectiveness of OBT076 as an anti-cancer therapy. Once the optimal dose is determined and safety is assessed, additional research participants will be treated at the optimal dose level to further evaluate safety and effectiveness.

HIIT Following Breast Cancer Chemotherapy

Breast Cancer

Chemotherapy is an effective breast cancer treatment, which helped to increase the 5-year survival rate to approximately 95%. However, breast cancer survivors have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to chemotherapy than adults without cancer. Cardiovascular rehabilitation can be an effective strategy to decrease the incidence of CVD and its risk factors in this population. The proposed study may help to examine the effect and durability of a novel high-intensity interval training compared to moderate-intensity continuous training on cardiovascular rehabilitation in breast cancer survivors.

Researching Economical Adjuvants to Cancer Therapy

Healthy Participants

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if beta-glucan (a dietary fiber) improves the function of the immune system in adults. It will also tell the investigators if combining beta-glucan with single bouts of exercise provides additional benefit. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does beta-glucan change the ability of immune cells to recognize cancer cells? 2. Does exercise change the type of immune cells in the blood? Researchers will compare beta-glucan to a placebo (a look-alike substance with no effect) to see if beta-glucan could improve immune function against cancer. Participants will: 1. Take beta-glucan or a placebo daily for 4 weeks. 2. Visit the laboratory for three exercise tests. 3. Provide blood samples so researchers can study immune system cells.

Venetoclax in Combination With Cladribine and Cytarabine Alternating With Azacitidine Plus Venetoclax for the Treatment of Newly Diagnosed Monocytic AML and Active Signaling Mutated AML

This phase II trial tests how well venetoclax with cladribine and cytarabine alternating with azacitidine and venetoclax works in treating patients with newly diagnosed monocytic acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and active signaling mutated AML. Venetoclax is in a class of medications called B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) inhibitors. It may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking BCL-2, a protein needed for cancer cell survival. Chemotherapy drugs, such as cladribine, cytarabine and azacitidine, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving venetoclax with cladribine and cytarabine alternating with azacitidine and venetoclax may kill more cancer cells in patients with newly diagnosed monocytic AML and active signaling mutated AML.
