A Study to Test Whether BI 3034701 Helps People to Lose Weight Who Live With Obesity or Overweight

Obesity ยท Overweight

This study is open to adults between 18 and 74 years of age and who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or more, or a BMI of 27 kg/m2 or more and at least 1 health problem related to their weight. People who have previously not managed to lose weight by changing their diet can participate. People with type 2 diabetes cannot take part in this study. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 3034701 helps people living with obesity or overweight to lose weight. This study has 7 groups of participants. Groups 1 to 6 get different doses of BI 3034701; Group 7 gets placebo. Placebo looks like BI 3034701 but does not contain any medicine. Every participant has more than an 80% chance of getting BI 3034701. Participants receive 2 injections of BI 3034701 or placebo under their skin for 42 weeks. In addition to the study medicine, all participants receive counselling to make changes to their diet and to exercise regularly. Participants are in the study for about 10 months. During this time, they visit the study site 15 times. The study doctors regularly measure the participants' body weight and take necessary laboratory tests. Participants also answer questions about their well-being and note their food intake and physical activity in diaries. The results will be compared between groups of participants to see whether the treatment works. The study doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.

A Study of CX11 Tablets in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Type II Diabetes Mellitus

This study is testing whether a new medication called CX11 works and is safe for participants with type 2 diabetes who have not reached good blood sugar control while taking a steady dose of metformin, with or without a steady dose of an SGLT2 inhibitor, for at least 90 days. The study is being done at multiple medical centers. Participants are assigned by chance (randomized) to different groups, and neither the participants nor the study staff know which group they're in (double-blind). The groups are compared side by side (parallel), and some participants will receive inactive pills (placebo) to help measure the true effect of the study drug. After screening, participants will be randomly placed into one of six groups, with equal chances of being in any group. Each group will receive a different dose of CX11 or a placebo. Treatment will last 24 weeks. After that, all participants will have a 2-week follow-up period to check on safety.

Safely Optimizing Body Weight With Mifomelatide (TCMCB07) in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Colorectal Cancer (CRC) or Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (PDAC) Undergoing Chemotherapy

Cancer Weight Loss

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled basket trial evaluating mifomelatide (TCMCB07) administered daily by subcutaneous (SC) injection in up to 120 patients. Patients will be enrolled into two cohorts 1) patients with newly diagnosed, advanced, unresectable colorectal cancer (CRC) or 2) patients with newly diagnosed, advanced, unresectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Within each cohort, patients will be randomized 1:1:1:1 to receive placebo or one of three different doses of mifomelatide (12.5 mg, 25 mg, or 50 mg). This study is designed to evaluate the effects of different doses of mifomelatide on weight, body composition and BMI. The double-blind (DB) phase will generally begin on the first day of the second cycle of first-line cancer chemotherapy and continue for 12-weeks with the goal of maintaining body weight and muscle mass in patients undergoing chemotherapy relative to control. Upon completion of the DB treatment period, eligible patients may enroll in an optional Open Label Extension (OLE) phase and receive mifomelatide SC 25 mg daily for up to an additional 26 weeks. The purpose of the OLE is to further evaluate long-term safety, tolerability and efficacy of mifomelatide.

Sisters for Heart Health: A Community Health Worker Initiative for Improving Heart Health in Farmworker Women

Occupational Stress ยท Gender Related Stress ยท Social Isolation

The goal of this hybrid Type 1 effectiveness-implementation trial is to test the extent to which a peer support and community resource navigation intervention improves psychological well-being, addresses non-biologic drivers of health (access to healthcare, supportive services, nutrition, housing stability, transportation, chronic stress, social support), and thus reduces cardiometabolic risk among rural, low-income farmworker women aged 18-50 years. The main questions it aims to answer are: * If and to what extent does the intervention reduce stress, social isolation, and psychological distress by improving social support and access to needed resources? * If and to what extent does the intervention improve cardiometabolic health, measured by the American Heart Association's Life's Essential 8 (LE8) score? Researchers will compare the CHW-led Sisters for Heart Health intervention to a Basic intervention (LE8 assessment and resource information) to assess the effect of peer support and community resource navigation on heart health outcomes.
